One of my blogging goals for 2020 was to take the time and get a little more personal on here. That goal brings me to the topic of today which is choosing happiness, and the role that this topic has played in my own life.
So today, I want to talk about choosing happiness. Choosing happiness is incredibly important but also one of the hardest things to do. So many life circumstances get in the way of us choosing happiness, finances, other people, benefits, just to name a few. But when we are able to let go of what we currently have, and are able to grab onto the choice of happiness, everything changes.
I share this information from experiences within my own life. I graduated in May of 2019 and went right into the workforce. I ended up taking the only job that was offered to me, and I hated it. Like seriously, within the first week of work, I knew that the job was not for me and was not along the lines of anything that I was looking for, or wanted. The longer I stayed in the position, the more my workload increased, the more depressed I got, my stress increased, and I entered a pit of despair. Within this experience, I applied for many other jobs which didn't really pan out the way I wanted.
Then one did.
Now, this job certainly isn't perfect. It's only part-time hours, I only get paid if clients show up, and I no longer have health benefits (which is scary in and of itself), but it represented choosing happiness. At that moment, I choose happiness above all of the other things that can get in the way of choosing happiness, and it was the best choice I ever made.
By choosing happiness, I opened the doors to my life for more happiness and more blessings. In the month since I choose happiness, I have done amazing work in my new job, was offered a totally badass full-time with benefits job that will be one of the best career builders on my resume, and took a trip to New Orleans. None of these things would have happened had I not choose happiness (except for maybe New Orleans.)
Choosing happiness can be a hard thing to choose, but it can be one of the best things you can do for yourself. By choosing happiness I can feel and recognize the magic in my life again. I feel refreshed.
After this experience in my life, I will always choose happiness before anything else.
