So yesterday was the October book club meeting, and it surprisingly feels flat.
After last month's meeting that was more than a little flat, I was hoping that things would get a little better but right now it seems like it might not. I'm not sure if its a group make up thing, and that most of the people in the group are awkward or shy or something along those lines or no one has anything to stay, or the education system with rising hands and taking turns has been ingrained so far into everyone that no one knows how to just talk anymore. I'm hoping it gets better discussion wise, next month and so far I haven't given up on it yet. There is something stabilizing about having a planned event at least once a month to get out there.
Outside of book discussion, I was able to talk to some of the members, personally. So that's something and is totally a plus. It just sucked that it was over in like 20 mins.
Anyway, I like this personal growth activity thus far. I think that personally, it has worked out for me to get back into reading for pleasure after being caught in academic reading for the last few years of my life, so I am loving that. The bookworm inside of me is pretty excited to be able to get back out there and exist. I hope things get better in the book club overall though, that would be awesome.
November's book is The Last Guest House by Megan Miranda.
As always, once I finish the book it will go onto my ongoing book list, and any books from that you would like a review on, let me know by commenting or slide into my DM's @ifeintheoutland Instagram. I will be doing a review on City of Girls though, so keep an eye out if you're interested!
